The Tube Pig, developed in 2014 for Taj Burrow’s challenging Western Australia home breaks, is a durable, performance-driven board built to handle powerful, wind-affected barrels. Unlike lightweight contest boards, it offers substance and resilience for demanding beach breaks and reefs.

Measuring just over 5’9” with 18.32” width, 2.25” thickness, and 25 liters volume, it features a round pin tail, a slightly wider nose, and a narrower hip for strong drive. The high-performance rocker is smooth and continuous, enhancing control, while the slightly thicker nose improves paddle power and drive off the front foot, aiding tube rides and sharp snaps.

Taj praises it as the best board he’s ridden in the tube—combining early paddle power with a compact shape that fits barrels better than a typical shortboard or gun.

Pros:

* Durable and built for harsh, hollow waves.
* Strong paddle power and drive.
* Smooth rocker for reliable control.
* Ideal for powerful beach breaks and reefs.

Cons:

* Heavier than ultra-light performance boards.
* Subtle design may lack visual boldness.
* Shorter length may not suit big-wave gun riders.

The Tube Pig is perfect for surfers seeking a dependable, tube-ready board for powerful, barreling conditions.
