Round Up

REAL WATERSPORT'S REVIEW >

Born from rider feedback and countless custom orders, the RoundUp was developed as a more versatile, user-friendly evolution of the original RockUp. While the RockUp earned its reputation as a go-to gun for serious, heavy days, many surfers found it too “gunny” for anything short of perfect barrels. The RoundUp answers that call—offering a more playful, high-performance experience that still holds true when the surf turns on.

Starting with the RockUp’s proven chassis, designer Matt Biolos widened and added curve to the final 24" of the tail, transitioning from a narrow pin to a more forgiving rounded pin. This adjustment alone enhances maneuverability and responsiveness while preserving hold in powerful surf. The rocker, foil, and forward outline remain true to the RockUp, but the rails have been softened and slightly filled out, raising the apex to offer added volume and forgiveness.

The result? A board that handles solid surf with control and confidence—but comes alive in more common, above-average conditions. Whether it's steep drops, down-the-line barrels, or drawn-out rail surfing, the RoundUp balances paddle power, control, and performance without needing "day of the year" conditions to shine.

Pros:

* More versatile than a traditional step-up—rides well in both solid and slightly above-average surf.
* Softer, fuller rails offer added forgiveness and float.
* Rounded pin tail adds looseness and maneuverability without sacrificing hold.
* Maintains paddle power and down-the-line speed.

Cons:

* Still favors intermediate to advanced surfers—may overwhelm beginners.
* Designed for bigger waves—less functional in knee- to waist-high surf.
* Not as loose or skatey as a hybrid or small wave board.

Summary:
The RoundUp is a refined, modern step-up that brings the hold and confidence of a serious board to more accessible conditions. With increased surface area in the tail and more forgiving rails, it’s a high-performance tool that works in everything from solid reef breaks to punchy beachies—without demanding perfection. A must-have for any surfer looking to bridge the gap between their everyday shortboard and full-on gun.
