Big Rig Driver

The BIG RIG marks Lost’s long-awaited return to the high-performance shortboard (HPSB) space—scaled up but not dumbed down for surfers who may be older, bigger, or both, but still want to surf hard and push turns. Derived directly from the Driver 3.0 and 2.0, the BIG RIG maintains elite-level design elements while strategically adjusting dimensions and volume for paddling power, drive, and glide.

The board features a thicker centerline, a rolled deck, and refined rails not boxy, but forgiving making it feel solid underfoot while still sensitive and responsive. The relaxed entry rocker improves paddling and wave-catching, while a continuous rocker through the tail and deep concaves deliver speed, lift, and release in the pocket. A widened nose outline offers extra glide and paddle power without sacrificing performance.

Inspired by boards shaped for Cole Houshmand, who surfs at 6’4” and 220 lbs, the BIG RIG offers legitimate performance capability in a more accessible package without pushing you into hybrids, mids, or grovelers.

Pros:

*True high-performance design no compromise in modern shortboard feel
*Boosted paddle power and wave entry from extra thickness and relaxed entry rocker
*Maintains speed, rail bite, and maneuverability in critical sections
*Great for older or larger surfers who still want to push performance
*Fully customizable (tail shape, volume, dims) for specific needs

Cons:

*Less forgiving than hybrids or mids still requires decent technique
*Might not float enough for surfers above 220 lbs unless custom ordered
*Still built for performance waves not ideal for knee-high mush

Summary:

The BIG RIG is a modern shortboard for real surfers with real bodies. It answers the call for volume and paddle power without losing the essence of performance design. If you still want to rip, but struggle to keep up with the pack on traditional HPSBs, the BIG RIG is a refined, powerful alternative that respects your age, weight—and your desire to surf at a high level.
