The Glydra is a mid-length, small-wave glider born from the popular Hydra design, blending fishy speed and control with the relaxed, flowing ride of a longer board.

Conceived through collaboration with Heritage Surfboards in New Jersey, the Glydra was designed to meet the rising demand for versatile mid-lengths that perform in small, mushy surf. Stretching the Hydra’s magic about 12 inches longer, the Glydra is not just a scaled-up version—it features thoughtful refinements to maintain looseness, maneuverability, and style across a longer rail line.

The Glydra retains the Hydra’s snowboard-inspired “Pelagic” side-cut outline, slightly softened to suit the mid-length format. This side-cut enhances rail lock-in during turns while shortening turn radius, delivering speed without sacrificing control.

The bottom contours preserve the sophisticated triple concave hull (double concave inside single concave), with pronounced chined rails for release and fluid rail-to-rail transitions. These features encourage 3D rail surfing rather than flat surface skating, especially important given the board’s increased volume and length.

Crucially, the Glydra incorporates increased rocker—particularly through the midsection underfoot—to keep the board lively and prevent the “stiffness” or “stickiness” common in longer boards. This rocker allows for confident turns in smaller waves and a free, surfy feel on a longer platform.

Ideal for surfers seeking a long fish, mini-glider, or mid-length mayhem board, the Glydra paddles effortlessly, catches waves easily, and trims smoothly along the line. It performs especially well in sub-par surf where flow, speed, and looseness are prized.

Pros:

* Excellent paddle power and wave-catching ability for a mid-length
* Sophisticated triple concave bottom with chined rails enables smooth rail-to-rail surfing
* Snowboard-inspired side-cut offers locked-in, tight carves with speed and control
* Increased rocker underfoot prevents stiffness, maintaining a lively feel despite length
* Versatile small wave glider with performance fish DNA
* Stylish and functional design for both casual cruisers and progressive riders

 Cons:

* Less suited for steep, powerful waves where shorter boards dominate
* Longer length may feel less nimble in tight spots compared to shorter fish or stubby models
* Mid-length size requires some adjustment for surfers accustomed to shortboards or traditional fish

Summary:

The Glydra is a masterful mid-length evolution of the Hydra’s small wave formula, offering glide, looseness, and maneuverability across a longer platform. It’s perfect for surfers chasing fun in minimal surf but wanting more versatility and style than a traditional fish. Whether you call it a long fish, a mini-glider, or mid-length mayhem, the Glydra delivers a unique ride that blends speed, control, and flow—making it a standout small wave machine for riders who want to go long without losing fun.
