Mini Padillac

The Mini Padillac is Pyzel’s answer to those in-between days when the surf is solid—but not quite XXL. Born from the DNA of the original Padillac (a staple for heavy water chargers), the Mini Padillac has been re-tuned to deliver earlier entry, better fit in the pocket, and a surprisingly nimble feel—making it a go-to board for powerful surf that doesn’t quite warrant a full-blown gun.

Designed with extra paddle power in mind, it gets you into waves early, whether you’re chasing open ocean reef sets or steep beach break drops. The front half of the board has been refined with a narrower nose and added nose rocker, allowing it to tuck into tighter curves and navigate later take-offs more confidently. Meanwhile, the back half mirrors the proven Padillac, giving the Mini that same trustable drive and hold off the bottom.

While it packs extra foam under the chest for paddling power, the rolled deck and tapered rails hide the volume well—giving it the sensitivity of a much thinner board. It also features a continuous rocker for smooth rail-to-rail flow and a swallow tail for added pivot and release. The 5-fin setup adds versatility, making it adaptable to a range of wave types and fin preferences.

Pros:

  • Excellent paddle power with hidden foam under the chest.

  • Handles late drops thanks to added nose rocker and sleeker outline.

  • Fast, loose, and drivey feel with a Vee/double concave bottom and swallow tail.

  • Versatile 5-fin setup adapts to various conditions and styles.

  • Ideal step-up for serious surf, yet maneuverable enough for some to use as a daily board.

Cons:

  • Too much board for average or small surf—best in overhead or powerful conditions.

  • May feel bulky to surfers used to ultra-refined shortboards, despite the hidden foam.

Summary:

The Mini Padillac blends the strength and reliability of a step-up with a sleeker, more responsive front end that thrives in late drops and hollow sections. Perfect for surfers looking for a dependable board in solid surf without the bulk of a full gun, it offers power paddling, hidden volume, and clean turns in a package that’s both forgiving and high performance. If you want one board for bombing waves that aren't quite death-defying, the Mini Padillac is the weapon of choice.
