FIREWIRE'S TOO FISH KEEL FIN >

The Too Fish is a refined evolution of Rob Machado’s beloved “Go Fish” model, blending the retro-inspired twin fin outline with modern performance upgrades. Drawing on lessons learned from the Seaside, Rob has designed the Too Fish to be both versatile and dynamic across a range of conditions. Built in Firewire's Helium Technology, the board features aerospace-grade deck skins and a paulownia/balsa wood rail system, delivering a light, lively feel underfoot with enhanced durability and precise flex control.

The design leans heavily into performance through contrast: the front two-thirds of the board retain generous foam for easy paddling and glide in small, mushy waves, while the tail is pulled in and foiled out for better hold and control when the surf gets serious. Rob himself claims it's his favorite board for all conditions—from overhead North Shore walls to soft, shapeless beach break dribble.

Pros:

  • Helium Technology provides exceptional durability and a light, responsive feel.

  • Foam-forward design ensures early wave entry and speed in weak surf.

  • Refined tail allows for solid performance and hold in powerful waves.

  • Highly versatile, performing across a broad spectrum of wave types and sizes.

Cons:

  • Twin fin feel may lack the drive and pivot some riders seek in critical sections.

  • Advanced tail design could be less forgiving for beginner surfers.

Summary:
The Too Fish is a thoughtfully updated twin fin with modern performance baked into its DNA. It's fast, floaty, and functional in small surf, while still offering hold and control in overhead conditions. Built with Firewire’s cutting-edge Helium construction, the board delivers on both durability and performance. Ideal for intermediate to advanced surfers looking for a go-to board that thrives in everything from beach break slop to clean reef setups.
