3.0 Stub Squash

A true step-down high-performance shortboard—without stepping down the feel.

The 3.0 STUB is a refined, small-wave weapon born from the same DNA as the DRIVER 3.0, but built specifically for average, everyday surf. Designed with Kolohe Andino to handle waves like T-Street and small Lowers, the 3.0 STUB keeps the energy and familiarity of its full-performance sibling while adapting to the less glamorous waves most surfers face.

Unlike its cousin, the Sub-Driver, the 3.0 STUB eliminates vee in the tail in favor of a continuous rocker and concave design, giving it a more seamless, agile feel in tight pockets and dumpy beach break sections. The slightly wider tail block, modest hip, and deeper concaves give it that extra spark and lift in mushy or inconsistent surf—without sacrificing the responsive feel of a Driver.

Intended to be ridden about an inch shorter than the DRIVER 3.0, the    3.0 STUB delivers elite-level performance in less-than-elite conditions. It’s already a favorite among the WQS crew (including Crosby Colapinto and Cole Houshmand) and is proving itself as a go-to option when performance matters most in below-average waves.

Pros:

* High-performance feel in smaller waves no need to compromise
* Deeper concaves and wider outline generate lift, speed, and flow
* No vee in the tail makes it looser and easier to surf in tight or dumpy sections
* Designed to match DRIVER 3.0 feel, so advanced surfers can swap without changing technique
* Great choice for performance surfers in average beach break conditions

Cons:

* Still demands a performance-focused surfer not for casual cruisers or true beginners
* Wider tail may feel twitchy for those used to more drivey boards in the Sub-Driver family
* Less suited for powerful surf where the DRIVER 3.0 would better excel

Summary:

The 3.0 STUB hits a sweet spot for those who want world-class shortboard performance without waiting for world-class waves. Designed as a seamless transition from the DRIVER 3.0, it’s ideal for surfers who take their performance seriously—even in average beach breaks. If you’re tired of hybrids that don’t rip or grovelers that feel sluggish, the 3.0 STUB could be your everyday answer to small wave surfing, minus the compromise.
