The BeanBag is Lost’s most extreme answer to weak, gutless waves taking the ultra-groveler concept to its outer edge. Designed for maximum surface area and minimal rocker, it planes quickly and paddles effortlessly in ankle- to waist-high conditions. A double-ender outline keeps the board balanced, while the tip-to-tail vee adds a surprising amount of responsiveness and helps the board transition rail-to-rail, avoiding the “skate-flat” feel of other similar shapes.
With its flat deck and low center of gravity, the BeanBag offers a stable platform that works well for cruising or cranking tight arcs off the tail. It's a more extreme, wider, and flatter take on the Couch Potato, built to be ridden ultra short.
Pros:
*Unmatched in tiny surf catches waves others can't
*Super stable and forgiving, even for newer surfers
*Easy rail engagement despite high width and volume
*Built for aggressive surfing, not just gliding
*Very short length = tight turning radiusCons:
*Too specialized not a good all-rounder
*Can feel sluggish or awkward in punchy or larger surf
*Wide tail requires back-foot precision in steeper sections
*Not suited for vertical surfing or big maneuversSummary:
The BeanBag is a fun-first, function-forward design for surfers who want to make the most of miserable conditions. It offers surprising control for its width and can still be surfed dynamically not just a cruiser, but a true tiny wave performer. Best kept as a dedicated groveler for those micro days when everything else stays in the garage.
