Our best small-wave performance shortboard just got better.
The Sub Driver 2.0 is the latest evolution of Lost’s most successful small-wave competition shortboard—a board that has earned its reputation through years of dominance in both elite contests and everyday surf. Originally brought to life through Kolohe Andino’s iconic five-win run on the WQS in 2011, the Sub Driver has been a trusted weapon for top-tier competitors ever since. Even legends like Mick Fanning have sung its praises, famously borrowing Kolohe’s board at the Lowers Pro and stating it “completely changed his perception of what a competition board can be.”
While designed for the demands of the WQS and Challenger Series circuit, the Sub Driver has always maintained approachability. The 2.0 version continues this tradition—blending pro-level responsiveness with user-friendly design to make it equally valuable to up-and-coming competitors and everyday surfers looking for an edge in average or sub-par conditions.
Key Design Updates:
Wider, more forgiving nose
Enhances paddling, drive, and landing stability. The straighter forward outline helps generate momentum even in mushy, slow surf.Refined hip and wide squash tail
The updated hip complements the wider nose and serves as a pivot point for tight turns. The wide tail block maintains stability and control, especially in weaker surf.Thicker centerline with vee-deck and refined rails
Increased center thickness aids paddling and drive, while lowered rail volume boosts sensitivity and turning ability without sacrificing float or forgiveness.Deeper rear concave and enhanced tail contours
A single-to-double concave through the tail, with added vee behind the rear fin, lifts the board and accelerates water flow, increasing responsiveness and speed through turns.Curvier, extended rail rocker
Creates a hinge under the back foot, balancing with the flat tail rocker for tight, vertical maneuvers and down-the-line speed. The Sub Driver 2.0 was tested and refined with input from athletes like Kolohe Andino, Griffin Colapinto, and a new generation of WQS surfers. Designed in the forgiving points of San Clemente, it excels in small-to-average surf and thrives in less-than-perfect conditions—offering pro-level performance in real-world waves.
It’s available in both standard and "BRO" dims, and is best ridden 1–2” shorter than a Driver 2.0 or similar high-performance shortboard.
