Banjo Fish – The Next Evolution of the Twin Keel Fish

The Banjo Fish advances the classic twin keel concept by retaining the proven rocker and foil flow while introducing refined outline and contour adjustments for enhanced performance. From the wide point to approximately 8 inches from the tail, the outline is straightened considerably, creating a straighter rail line between the feet when engaged, which helps the board rail up more easily by reducing surface area in this critical zone.

Beyond the 8-inch mark, the outline curves more aggressively into a narrower tail block, increasing responsiveness and tightening the turning radius by reducing area behind the back foot and fins. The nose is narrowed to facilitate easier vertical movement up the wave face, complementing the slimmer tail for balanced control.

Contours have been subtly adjusted with a slightly deeper double concave through the fin area to boost lift and drive. The deck maintains its flatter profile paired with more angular rails, enhancing responsiveness and rail engagement.

Pros:

  • Straightened outline between feet promotes easier rail engagement and control

  • Narrowed tail block and added curve increase responsiveness and quick turning

  • Reduced nose width improves maneuverability on the wave face

  • Enhanced double concave contouring boosts lift and drive

  • Flatter deck with angular rails offers precise rail control

Cons:

  • Narrower dimensions may reduce stability for less experienced surfers

  • Design focuses on performance, potentially less forgiving in mushy surf

Summary:
The Banjo Fish is a refined evolution of the twin keel fish, combining classic flow with modern outline and contour tweaks to deliver a more responsive, agile ride. Its straighter rail line between the feet and curvier tail create a nimble board that excels at quick turns and rail-to-rail transitions, making it an excellent choice for surfers seeking a lively, high-performance fish with added control and drive.
