WATCH XANADU'S REVIEW >

The Xanadu Sstar, introduced in 2018, is a refined evolution of the high-performance X11, designed for surfers who want speed and control with a touch more volume. Built with a lower entry rocker and most of the curve concentrated near the tail, the Sstar maintains drive while adding versatility. A subtle vee in the nose transitions to an accentuated single concave through the center and a double concave in the tail, promoting lift, responsiveness, and control in hollower waves. The board features a fuller rail and medium dome deck, giving it added floatation—especially in the chest area—for easier paddling and wave entry. With a slightly wider nose and tail outline, the Sstar also shines in smaller, softer surf.

Pros:

* Added volume and fuller rails provide better paddling and accessibility
* Rocker and concave combination offers great speed and control
* Handles well in both hollow and softer waves
* Versatile design works in a wide range of global conditions

Cons:

* Slightly more volume may feel less sensitive to extremely technical surfers
* Not as specialized for ultra-critical or very large surf

Summary:
The Xanadu Sstar is a highly versatile high-performance board that bridges the gap between precision and approachability. With thoughtful tweaks to rocker, outline, and volume distribution, it delivers speed, control, and wave-catching ease across a variety of conditions. Ideal for surfers who want a performance shortboard that doesn't sacrifice float or paddle power, the Sstar is a reliable option for everything from punchy beach breaks to travel surf abroad.
