FX E-Series – A Refined, Agile Take on the Quantum Quad Fish
The FX E-Series is an evolution of the Quantum Quad fish, shortened by about 1 inch for a more responsive and balanced ride. The design incorporates a blend of updated foil, outline, and contours, with the last 5 inches of the bottom smoothly blended up to the deck to create an accelerated nose lift. This feature, combined with the removal of the nose tip, reduces swing weight and improves overall balance, making the board feel lighter and more maneuverable.
The classic 'beak' nose of the Quantum is refined into a more foiled and narrower shape, reducing swing weight and enhancing paddling efficiency. The tail is transformed from a deep swallow to a slight hip squash, which retains ample surface area to maintain speed and drive while enabling critical maneuvers by allowing surfers to really get back on the tail. Added vee and double concaves in the tail area enhance rail-to-rail transitions and lift.
Ideal for smaller, flatter waves—whether beach or point breaks—the FX E-Series offers versatility and performance that can also challenge advanced surfers pushing the limits.
Pros:
Slightly shorter length increases agility and control
Accelerated nose lift and nose tip removal balance foil and reduce swing weight
Narrowed, foiled nose improves paddle power and reduces drag
Squash hip tail with added vee and double concaves enhances speed, drive, and responsiveness
Great choice for small, mellow waves, with performance potential in more advanced conditions
Cons:
Tail design may feel less traditional for surfers preferring deep swallow tails
Best suited to smaller surf; may not excel in very steep or overhead conditions
Summary:
The FX E-Series is a sleek, modern take on the Quantum Quad fish, finely tuned for speed, control, and versatility in smaller, softer waves. With its balanced foil, refined nose, and responsive tail design, it delivers a smooth paddle, quick turns, and fluid rail transitions—making it a reliable daily driver for surfers seeking a lively and adaptable fish shape.
