Born from the high-flying chaos of STAB Magazine’s very first Airshow at the WACO wave pool, this board was purpose-built for progressive surfing. Created for Maui’s aerial maestro Matt Meola—who had never ridden one of these boards before—it was designed with one goal in mind: maximum speed and pop, with just enough stability to stick the landing. What resulted was a 5'5" rocket: a flatter, semi-full nose with hints of the Xstump DNA, increased front-foot volume for stability, and a dropped tail rocker under 2" for pure lift-off. First session? Matt landed a full backside McTwist Flip—one of the craziest airs ever landed—earning the board near-legend status.

Pro
This board is explosively fast and built for flight. The low tail rocker, deep concaves, and front-loaded volume give it incredible down-the-line speed and mid-air control. Soft, forgiving rails reduce hangups during rotations and landings. Whether you’re sessioning a wave pool or aiming for punts in the ocean, it’s engineered to maximize airtime and flow while staying surprisingly forgiving on sketchy landings.

Con
This is a specialty board through and through. While surprisingly functional in day-to-day surf, its flatter rocker and compact shape are tuned for aerial performance. In hollow waves or drawn-out point breaks, it might feel a bit skatey or limited compared to a more traditional shortboard.

Final Verdict
If you’re chasing progression above the lip, this board is a proven platform to launch from—literally. Fast, poppy, and surprisingly stable under pressure, it’s a purpose-driven design that delivered one of the most talked-about maneuvers in modern surf history. Whether you're an aspiring air guy or just want a taste of that Meola magic, this board is a guaranteed spark for creativity and progression.
