II feel like COVID really fucked things up. I feel like real surfers are fed up with how kooky it’s gotten. There are a million beginner surfers everywhere. Treating it like pickleball. An activity. Not a lifestyle. But the good news is that at its core, surfing is rebellious and fucking cool, and it always will be. And the next generations will figure it out and rebel, as all real surfers have always done, and it won’t be about money or some fitness activity. It will be real again.
